"The Gruffalo", is a wonderful book by Julia Donaldson that has accompanied adorable illustrations by Axel Scheffler. We have used this book to put together a very comprehensive book companion document that has enough activities to keep your students busy for several weeks! We have included exercises to work on everything from verbal expression, articulation, reading, writing, grammar to concepts and more! ReplyDeleteI look for versatility when choosing a book companion. Vocabulary, articulation, problem solving - story event, wh questions, pleasing graphics, inferences/predicting, and maybe something special like a game, activity or challenge or a writing opportunity, or additional learning opportunity for an idea (recycling, animal facts, other states/countries,..) that is implied in the book. ReplyDeleteI look for companions that I can use with a variety of different groups, artic, language, functional skills. They need to be engaging books and I like the companions that have games and homework activities included as well.
ReplyDeleteI like book companions that contain games with good story comprehension questions. Also love sequencing activities. I love the context book companions offer the kids!
