GIVEAWAY INFORMATION: Leave a comment letting us know about one of your birthdays.  Did you get to go somewhere special, or did one of your birthday parties have a fun theme?  Maybe you could share what birthday you remember the most and why you think it was one of your best or worst birthday's. Or, maybe you could comment on a birthday party that you helped to put together for someone else?  You could let us know what fun activities you had planned or simply what the theme was.

Shanda and I, got the opportunity to help plan our Grandma's surprise 90th birthday party with our Aunt and cousins.  It had a fun pink flower theme and we got the chance to see a lot of relatives that we don't get to see often. It also gave us the chance to find out more about our Grandma because we interviewed her for a poem that we wrote for her about her life.  That was a fun and meaningful experience that has now proved to be very important to us as she has recently suffered a stroke and her resulting aphasia and apraxia has made it difficult for her to portray herself verbally.

If you leave a comment than you are automatically entered to win this pick the names out of a hat style giveaway.  You could be one of two people to win this brand new document that you could use all year long with your birthday boy and girl students!
Best of luck winning!

Sincerely,
Manda Riebel, M.A. CCC-SLP &
Shanda Gaunt, M.S. CCC-SLP

  1. As a child I hated my birthday because I was born on St. Patrick's Day and my aunt's birthday was on the 15th and my brother's on the 19th so we celebrated on the Sunday in between them all and we had to have corned beef and cabbage every year. And each cake said "Happy Birthday Aunt Liz, Jayne, & Steven." As a teenager and adult, I learned to embrace my St. Patrick's Day birthday because once I had the confidence to speak up I could celebrate with pizza or tex-mex or whatever I wanted that evening and I finally got a birthday cake with just my name on it.

  2. I planned a surprise birthday party for my husband last year. It was a total surprise for him. Many of his sisters and brothers came plus many of his friends. It was a total success.

  4. My birthday was the same day as my father's ( we are 41 years apart) and two days before my father in law's. I always enjoyed sharing my birthday with my dad.

My favorite birthday memory was celebrated at a hilltop restaurant with great food and a splendid view, the one birthday the three of us celebrated together. Even more than the three birthdays, I cherish the memory of us all with our long awaited, one year old daughter, there to share that special day with us.

  5. I helped plan me dads 40th birthday. He works on Saturday so me and my mom had all his friends and family come over before he got home.everybody parked away from the house. He walked in the door and I was playing his favorite song on the radio and handed him a glass of lemonade. Then everybody jumped out and said happy birthday. He was so suprised he was smiling like a Cheshire Cat. That was the best party ever.

  6. My favorite birthday party was when I was in second grade- aren't second graders the best? I have a winter birthday, and I was one of the first kids to have a swimming party at the indoor pool- which was new to our community. I helped Mom set the table with a special gift for each of my friends. My best friend gave me a turtle piggy bank and I got a silver dollar from my grandma. I still have both! This is a great idea to have extra fun themed activities for birthdays handy! I can't wait to use them.

  7. For my 40th birthday, my husband threw me a surprise B-day party. I had no idea (usually I can tell when something is up!). That was my last "official" birthday party -it doesn't get better than that!

  8. I threw a surprise birthday party for my boyfriends 26th birthday with all his family and friends. I loved being able to suprise him because birthdays aren't really important to him and after the party he told me how special he felt that I went out my way to plan a whole day together and then a whole night wit his family and friends. I knew then he was a keeper :

  9. Oh, I have plenty of birthday stories for you....you see, I am the lucky child of a DECEMBER 26th birthdate. One particular Christmas, I wanted a denim covered banana seat bike.....I didn't get it. I was crushed, but of course thankful for all the wonderful things I did get. However, the next morning when I found my beloved bike in the den, I ran screaming through the house that Santa had come back and brought my bike!!! I am sure my parents got a great laugh that year....PLEASE PICK ME! My birthday is pretty tough, everyone is always out of town, there is no money left and no one wants to do anything because they are too pooped from Christmas...AND, while it wasn't as bad as a kid...as an adult...you are pretty much guarateed...MERRY CHRISTMAS-HAPPY BIRTHDAY combination! =)
